Sustainability – an important part of our corporate goals
For over 100 years, HERMANN SCHMIDT’s core strategic themes have been sound business practices and a resource-conserving and sustainable corporate policy. In terms of sustainability, we have specified our corporate goals and adapted them for the future.
The following measures have already been successfully implemented at the warehouse in Essen-Kupferdreh:
- Installation of a new 2 x 160 KW ETA pellet heating system + a total of 7000 liters buffer tank
- Daily, resource-saving parcel delivery with DHL
- Environmentally friendly, recyclable filling material for the shipping boxes
Numerous measures to improve the carbon footprint were also implemented in the administration building in Essen-Bredeney:
- Over 80 % less paper thanks to predominantly digital work
- Fewer business trips thanks to hybrid working methods
- Over 50 % of our employees in administration and in the warehouse use public transport with the RUHRBAHN
The ideal connection to the administration makes it possible to be at the streetcar stop in a maximum of 2 minutes on foot.
The walk from the camp to the station takes about 15 minutes.
